I'd keep an eye on the bn plec. When I had mine I had a problem with my bristelnoses in that they sucked the sides of the discus causing circular sores.

Pleocs with discus is a grey area again. It is important to do lots of research into what plecos to keep with them. Bristlenoses are supposed to be good, though I haven't kept them with my discus. I have had success with L66 in with mine, who are breeding like rabbits in the discus community tank conditions :hyper:

RE:BEEFHEART blue acara raised some interesting points regarding the fat in mammillian meat products, that I was not aware of, but you need to understand that there at least two types of protien. This diet musho has planned, is IMO a good one, as it contains plenty of protien that discus would be able to get their hands (or mouths in this case) on in the wild. This means that they have addapted to eat it :good: The other type of protien is found in mammilian meat. This type is hard to digest, making the discus increase water fouling, as this type of protien is broken down into lots of ammonia when utilised for energy, and another byproduct is a type of fat that is bad for discus, but that they absorb allong with the protien. This is why Discus should only be offered Beaf Heart as occasional treats, and never as a pure Beef Heart mix. Other foods, mainly veg, should be added to the mix before blending and freezing :good:

I only had problems with BNP and with a Royal Whiptail I'd had for years. a gold nugget and zebra I had were fine.

It seems that there is no rule and once they get the taste they don't stop. My BNP's do it to my reedfish now

Thats interesting, as I had issues with an L18, Gold Nugget Pleco.....

Definately no hard and fast rule here :good:
