I've had a long interest in wanting to keep tropical fish, but previously have never really had the space to set anything up until now, one of the joys of now owning my own house I guess!!

An option has come up to purchase a Fluval Profile 1000, which comes with a Eheim Profressional II ThermoFilter 2128, Eheim 400 airpump, 4 x 39w tube lighting, together with backup Fluval 300w mirror heater and Eheim Internal BioPower 240.

At present the filter is using it's own intake and outlet tubing but I gather I can locate it in the right side of the cabinet and run the piping through to the drilled in/out located at the back left of the tank? The tank needs to go in a corner that would restirct access to the left side of the cabinet, hence moving the filter to the right and making use of the drilled in/out would surely reduce sight of the hosing?

Other than one tube light not working and I'd need connect the filter up as mentioned above it all appears to be in good working order.

I'm just wondering what peoples opinions are of the above as a set-up?

I'm not really sure what fish I'd like to get to start with, something easy to look after and that will like the hard water we have in Norfolk, but thats for a later conversation I think.

Welcome to the forum,  Jon :)

Your set up sounds very nice!

As long as you connect the external filter the right way round (the in to the in and the out to the out!), it doesn't matter which side the pipes or filter are on.
