Fish Fanatic
Some of you will have read my posts regarding the loss of one of a trio of Neolamprologus Similis. I thought I had two females remaining, and I have since been trying to find more Similis so that I can allow colonies to develop naturally and keep a correct sexual balance. The situation is now complicated by the two showing behaviour which might be a prelude to mating (shimmying, brushing against each other, hovering side-by-side, fins stiff and outstretched).
So far, I have been singularly unsuccessful in finding any Similis, but I have now been offered some N Multifasciatus by another member, and I would love to have them and keep them with my Similis.
My question is, do they interbreed? And if they do, would they still interbreed even if they had the opportunity of mating with their own kind (ie, if the opposite sex were available to them)?
And, as always, any information regarding orphaned Similis would be gratefully received ...!

I am so excited by the prospect of my new Similis! Thank you for your comments, Fella and Cometcattle. Fella had kindly offered me some of his N Multifasciatus fry, but I did want to check first how they would all get along before upsetting the status quo. As I am currently suffering with a severe case of multi-tank syndrome, I may find myself with a number of Tanganyikans in different tanks. My better half is looking mildly anxious, but at least we have solid floors ...
