One question..... I've seen the poop that my syphon vac gets out the substrate.... just what do you do with that many plants with regards to the poop and whatnot that sinks through the foliage onto the substrate?

That's a very good question...

I'm really curious too. My tank doesn't look that good, but it's really planted and I have a lot of trouble getting to the substrate. I've been using an airline tube with a straw on the end as a syphon to get in between the plants. Is there a better way????

always wondered myself how does one keep a tank like that clean??? maybe the plants help iwth the clean up??? fabulous looking tank though, makes me want to throw a cover over all of mine

In the last picture that ryan posted, what type of plant is that on the floor of the aquarium in the front?

Glossostigma elatinoides - grows normally 3 or 4 cm from the bottom gravel, provided you have a reasonable amount of light. In any other case, it will soon tend to grow higher and thinner, looking fragile and reluctant. If the gravel you are using is thin enough to allow roots to spread, and has nutrients in the bottom, you will soon see the surface of it covered with plants. Planting is somewhat difficult (patience), use a small pair of tweezers, and divide small plants carefully. Remember to provide a good amount of CO2 and light...and see for yourselves! Great plant if you can get it established.

What are the red plants? I've been looking for some different colored plants, but can't find any around here. Figure I'll have to go online to order some, but a name would be helpful. I've been wanting some of those plants for a while. Figured I'd really start looking when I get some CO2 in there. Thanks. Great tank, though.

thanks ryan. thats a great looking plant for a flooring. I think it would definitly be worth the planting.
