Well, I went out of town yesterday on a whim to a city about two hours away, and decided to drop by the fish shops there and see what they had. Boy was I suprised. There was this one fish store in the local mall, so I had pretty low expectations for it. But those fish were very active, very healthy looking. Completely astounding. I couldn't find anything wrong with any of the tanks. No dead fish, no algea, all very aware of their enviroment.

What really got me were the prices. Here's a sample of some of the things I saw.

Convicts- $3.50 buy one get one free

Angelfish Small- $2.99 Large $3.99

All Mollies (Lyretail, Sailfin, etc.)- $3 or lower

Oscars- $1

Goby Knight- $7

10 Gal setup (tank, filter, hood + light, gravel) $35 plus 5 free fish

I just thought I'd share. :D

Man, they are great prices. I wish i knew of a few store like that!

Did u get anything??

Maybe they are deciding to cut down their fish operations and are gettin rid of it all?!?!

The Emsworth shop near me has good prices, compared to Pets At Home. At PAH, a male betta is £4.50 but at Emsworth, it is £3.

The 10 gal setup sounds like a steal! Also, oscars for a buck? Musn't be very big, first thing that came to my mind was uneducated ppl. buying them because they were so cheap, and the poor oscars dying soon after. A higher price would deter such possible behaviour.

And also, good deal on the angels. At my lfs, they're 3.99 small and 5.99 medium, but I got 2 free last Sunday cos' I know the guy there.

 Man, look at those prices!!
My LFS has convicts for $3, buy one get three free
This is only because their cons are always breeding and they are overrun with the buggers

I didn't get anything because I was a little worried about the two hour trip home considering they didn't have an air hose. But man did I want to. Their goby knights were gorgeous. The oscars were only about an inch and a half long. They were small, and I thought the exact same thing about people buying them cause they were little and cheap. What really got me is that the oscars were on sale for a dollar, regular price a dollar fifty.

A couple more prices I just remembered...

Clown Loach- $4.00

"Chinese" Loach- $7
