Is it ok to use Aquarium Salt when I have guppy fry in the tank?

My Pleco is injured... he's got a tear in a fin.

I usually use Aquarium salt to treat illness', as i don't like using chemicals. However, i have guppy fry at the minute, and am unsure whether it's ok to use salt when I have fry.

Thanks,
Paul

EDIT:

Forgot to mention that I unfortunatly don't have a "treatment" tank, or any other tanl I can move the pleco or fry to.

Welcome to the forum Paul.
Guppies can generally tolerate more salt than a pleco, but have you tried just doing lots of large water changes to keep the water clean? Most minor injuries will heal with nothing but a clean environment.

Hello, thanks for your quick response.

I do weekly water changes of around 20%, and my last one was yesterday, but it was this morning when i noticed the pleco was injured (He appears to be swimming ok, and ok in himself, it's just a tear he's got)

I agree with oldman, do a couple of extra small water changes a week and it should heal in no time. Plecs are very resilient and the tear wont usually bother them and heals very easily
