Hi.
My dwarf gourami just got stuck between an ornament. I freed him and removed the ornament, but he has lots of scrapes along the top of his body. He shares a tank with 4 platys and 2 copper corys. Should I treat him and how, someone please help!
Click on the pictures to make them bigger. The pink spot is an injury.

Can you issolate him.
Usually melafix to stop the wounds getting infected.

Melafix. Ok.
I am currently cycling a 38 gal. aquarium, which I'm pretty sure had a bacterial bloom today, (cloudy water).
If it's safe to put the rest of my fish in there, I could leave the gourami in the 10 gal. If not, I could divide the tank. Any other options?

I would also use melafix (Brill stuff) it wouldnt really harm to treat the whole tank with the fish in. I have been told that a stressed fish may cause the other fish to become stressed (I dont know how true it is) but in cases like this I have treated the whole tank.
Hope this helps

I would maybe just go in with half dose of melafix as not all fish tolerate it to well.

Are platy fry OK with melafix? Hours-old platy fry?
(Born today :yahoo:)

The fry really are tiny, so I was just worried about them.
So, should I just put the half dose in for the 7 day course it recomends on the bottle?

Hi, I have been told in the past to half dose for fry.

OK, so I half-dosed this morning, and if I see any fish looking sick, should I do a water change?

Yes just half dose.
How are the fish.

The gourami is much more active today, I'm hovering over the tank obsesively to make sure he is taking the meds well.

Thats good news then bless him.
Good Luck.
