Hi:

I bought a pair of Red Blood parrot cichlids a few weeks ago, I just recently took them out of my community tank because they were in quite a territorial battle with my big black shark, and put them in their own tank, with a few busy fish to help them out.

I just noticed that the one has a small black spot on his nose just above his mouth. I have researched this black spot disease and have found some info saying that it is sometimes due to stress on the fish, and will most likely go away, and sometimes it has to be treated with medication.

He does not have any other spots on him, and the other parrot fish is just fine. He eats ok, swims around ok, other than the spot on his nose it does not appear to be bothering him at all.

Should i just keep an eye on him,or should i treat it with some medication, and if so which meds to use??

Anyone with more info on this topic would be greatly appreciated very much.

Black spots basically show up when the p is stressed... If they dont go away within a few days, try doing a water change and see if anything changes. If not, something is stressing the p and you'll have to figure out what is causing it.

just to add, i had a parrot once with a tank i got, and during the move it would get stressed and show up with dark spots, everytime i moved it this happened

The spots would actually go away in a matter of hours
