Info on Balloon Molly Fry?

Guppies can't eat Molly fry. Too big for their little mouthies. However, the other places are good. :) You might also be able to sell a few on here if it comes to that.

How big will the fry be?
Molly fry are bigger then most other Livebearer fry. Maybe [----] that big, or slightly larger.
Well my adult ballon mollies are about(------------------). If yours are about that size (people say they get abot 4 inches which i do not believe cause all three of mine are full grown and that big.) that expect the fry to be about (---) including fins. Much like the size of a guppy fry. At least mine were. :D

Shipping would be an issue. *pokes and whisper* Remember my dad?

You'd be surprised. o.o One of my guppy fry things was like... 3 weeks old and one of the guppies swam around the whole tank with half of the poor guy in his mouth.

We got him to let go and the dude lived!

Ah, right, the father. Scratch my idea then!

The fact that it was half the guy though, and he didn't eat it all and swallow it, kind of proves they are a bit too big for the Guppies wittle mouthies. (Yes, I find Guppies cute, can't ya tell? :p )

Good to hear the little guy lived though! The fry was probably like "Um daddy...that kind of hurt, so let's not try that again okay?" (In little high-pitched squeaky fry voice)

I find your obsession amusing. :p
Yeah well the fry was like... pretty old and had already grown some.
I was pretty pissed at the guppy, though, because I usually can't save that many fry and that was one of the few that was actually healthy and I had named.

Lol. Yeah. Most people do. Including myself. :p

It is often hard to keep the parents from having a snack on the babies though. Don't know what goes through their little guppy minds, about eating their kids, but ah well. What did you name the survivor?

She was already named Mocha, because she was starting to get some dark coloration. Bt her nickname was Deepthroat. :D

I guess i must be lucky then cause i counted all my ballon mollie fry which will fit in there parents mouths and my female guppies mouths and never lost one. I also had 86 guppy fry in with their parents and never witnessed any getting eaten or the number of them decreasing. :D

I've got balloon mollies and the biggest girl is about an inch maybe a little bigger and the biggest batch she's ever had was 18. Usually she has around 10 or so though. Balloon molly fry are quite big compared to other livebearers like platies and swordtails. Whenever my ballons give birth none get eaten because they are already too big to fit in the adults mouth :S So either I raise them if I feel like it or my bettas get a nice snack :shifty: Last week I bought a pair of jewel cichlids and you should see those guys eat fry. I could not believe how big their mouth get and how good of hunters they are. It's good to feed cichlids and bettas live food sometimes. They love the chase and I read it's nutritious for them especially if you feed the fry a big meal before you feed them to the other fish.

They can't eat them already? Jeez. Well, Leo, my betta buddy, you shall be feasting in a few days....

Nope they are safe as can be :S When mine are born they swim about with no worries in the world  I have regular mollies too but their fry are born much smaller so they usually get eaten which to be honest is a good thing.

Yes it is a good thing.
I cannot wait for her babies to come. I'm so excited. I was able to rehome the danios today so now all is once again peaceful in my little tank. I am so glad. :kana:

Wow. I am so incredibly excited. I just want her to have those babies already!
My friend told me that she read somehere that when mollies start swimming very slightly sideways, it means that the fry will come extremely soon. Is that true?
