So my LFS has something they are selling as an "Indian rope fish" but from my research looks more like an Indian pipefish. I can't find any info on them. Has anyone here kept them or know anything about them? I am interested in purchasing the fish, but not until I have an idea of what I'd be getting into and if it would be compatible with tank.

The rope fish is different than pipe fish. Rope fish get quite big, almost 3 feet in length and are sort of like an eel. Pipe fish get about 8 inches in length and look like a long thin worm almost with a longer nose.

liveaquaria usually carries both fish.

I havn't really researched the pipefish, so only know random bits that I may have read whilst looking at other things. So it could easily be wrong.
But I've heard that they are quite fragile, hard to feed, and should be in species only tanks.
