Indian almond leaves have been widely used by Asian breeders of tropical fish to stimulate breeding and promote health and vitality in tropical fish. Other beneficial use of Indian almond leaves include:
* act as a tonic
* enhance fertility
* reduce water pH
* anti-fungal properties
* anti-bacterial properties
* promote vibrant colorations
* simulate black water conditions
Indian Almond Leaf Usage Instructions:
Each whole leaf can treat up to 10 gallons of water. Simply drop a whole leaf in your aquarium or in a bucket of water and let the leaf seep in the water for at least 5 days to achieve the desirable result and 10 days for best result. The water will gradually turn from a light tea-like color on the first day to and a slightly darker tea-like color on subsequent days. You will need to dilute the water proportionately if your aquarium or bucket contains less than 10 gallons of water. For aquarium or bucket containing more than 10 gallons of water, you need to add more leaf in proportion with the amount of water. The leaf should be remove and discarded after 10 days from your tank since all the beneficial properties such as tannin acid have been release in the water.
For smaller betta containers, you can also break up the leaf in small 1-2 square inches and drop it in the container and let it seep in the water for at least 3 days to achieve the desirable and 5 days for best result. Water treated with almond leaf help reduce the number of water change in your betta containers from twice a week to once a week.
Please keep in mind that the water will not immediately turn to a tea-like color when you first drop the leaf in the water like you do with a tea bag in a cup of hot water. The water treated with the leaf will gradually turn color and may take up to a few hours before you start to see the color in the water. You may also us hot tap water to speed up the release of color from the leaf.
