I have a Juwel tank with the inbuilt filter with a broken powerhead (the 400), I have been debating whether to pay the £30 for replacement juwel pump or whether to bin that and replace it with a fluval internal filter.....I also started considering the 105 externals but it's only a Rekord 96, I happily use a 305 on my large tank but am not sure how much better an external would be on the small tank....so I'm really not sure which way to go...any opinions gratefully received???

Take the clutter out of the aquarium, ditch the internal box and go for a small external such as a small Eheim from their classic range with taps.

well my jewel filter has never caused me a prob....but always had fluval and find them great :good:
depends on what you want to do not sure how to remove the casing from the jewel filter but people on here do  so search for removing the filter casing and see whats said..... always could go for the exsternal option as more room in tank and not so unsightly and more sponge<bacteria options :good:

Is a 2213 way too big for 96 litre?

I do kind of agree with the external idea - I just have a fluval 3 internal sat unused so I thought I could save pennies. Should know better really, my fishes are great at making me spend money. All they have to do is drop babies and I get a new tank...

I am guessing that pulling the housing out of the tank would have been a better idea before I filled it up though !!!!

i was wondering the same question but hadnt got around to asking.
I have the jewel vision 180 and whatever filter comes with that.
But all that was said above has gone straight over my head!

help for lakeygal though: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/p.ebsworth/juwel.htm I believe its a guide from someone from here on its removal

Well that has helped me to shelve the idea of replacing the Juwel one then

OK Now it's internal vs external

can always save up the pennys then upgrade :hyper:

That only works if you aren't an impatient so and so like me...It's as much as my little brain can handle to make sure I cycle a tank for the correct time first, I repeatedly have to have stern words with myself.
