Just got my first platy fry nearly a week ago and it is currently in a 17L fry tank ive started up,i also have recently purchased a hareem of guppies..my question is..can i put my fry back in the community tank when they are mature? will they breed with eachother and their parents? i assume they will..but is this bad? will the fry be adversly affected after just 1 generation of inbreeding or does it take more than that? should i sell all my fry to local aquarists and only keep my unrelated breeding parents in my community

Also,im going on holiday for a week on a week today,so i am going to have to put my fry (who will be 2 weeks old by then) into the community so he can scavange for food from the holiday block of food and other sources of food in the community..cos i dont think i can do something to feed him in his own little tank for 7 days without the water quality really suffering

A platy fry can handle the high pH that a feeding block can cause. Just use a small block since he won't eat much at all. If your fish will be going hungry for a while, that would be a bad time to put the fry into the main tank. Hungry adults are much more likely to hunt down a fry for a snack.
