Hey guys im sure uv all heard about the floods in gloucestershire, if not its bad & we'v got no water for up to two weeks, the water went off on the day i was gonna do my water change & it really needs doing does any1 know if its ok to use bottled still water to do this or not????
Id appreciate any ideas!!!

If you regularly do water changes, and have had the tank set up for more than 6 monthsm I doubt the extended period without water changes would be a big problem.

If necessary you can use bottled water (dread to think of the cost) but still probably wise to dechlorinate.

Would it be a good idea to test the water then? Iv had the tank set up since may!

Bottled water is fine, I use it on one of my tanks for the higher alkalinity, but yes they all contain chlorine, so dechlorinate first!

yep, should be ok at 10 ppm for a while. Just keep testing every few days. If you have live plants they will suck up a bit of your nitrates too.

Think about cutting down on your feeding too, unless they are particularly fussy fish or young fry, they will probably cope on half measures for quite some time and less food = less waste.

I'm from Gloucester and I'm just not doing water changes, getting hold of enough bottled water would cost quite a lot as well... But yes, the fish should be fine without a water change for a while.

Hi guys my friend was going away for the wknd & had 40 liters spare in his caravan so he gave it me & iv given the fish a water change well chuffed!!
Thanks for all your advice!!
No doubt ill speak 2u soon!! :good:
