I don't know. What type of scooling fish likes to swim in and out of objects with lots of holes such as sunken ships?

(Sorry, couldn't help myself)

It's a fairly specific behaviour you're after. There's a number of tetras that can school quite nicely or at the other end of the spectrum is something like clown loaches (if you have a big enough tank) which when in groups, will often wedge themselves in holes with each other.

All though there are other reasons for fish schooling the main reason appears to me to be for protection against predators.

As for fish swimming in and out of ornaments well most of the fish I have swim in and out of the objects in my tank some do it more than others which includes the Loaches I have.

K-Holed is correct in saying that Clown loaches are good in a group (i.e they school together) and they love swimming in and out of bog wood and other ornaments and caves in fact caves and hidey wholes are an essential for Clown Loach.

K-Holed also correctly advised you that you would need a respectable sized tank for that species. Another exciting Loach that does not require such a large tank is the zebra Loach, they like to be in a reasonable number together at least 6 in my humble opinion they are inquisitive, lively and fun fish to keep.

Most bottom dwelling fish like Loaches will swim in and out of ornaments on the base of a tank by there natural nature as will they sleep and hide in caves and wholes.

If you decide on Loaches I would highly recommend serious study on the species you choose before going ahead and purchasing any as like all fish species there are specific requirements you will have to supply to keep them happy.
