you might have a problem with the gouramis and bettas, I had some in a quaratine tank for a few days and the betta was forever going for the gouramis and flaring at them.
Yes this is the norm. That is how they got the name "Kissing".
BTW Did you know that they grow to 12"? They will also occasionally harras other species and it is recomended to keep with others of its size.Good luck with the new fishes.

Kissing is totally normal which is where they get there name from but dont think they are male and female just coz they kiss haha,. with the betta keep a close eye as I have had them tofether no problem but some people have problems so i would always have a home for one or the other and KG's grow very big..
today i impulsed on a pair of kribs. cost me only 12 bucks and they are so gorejess(SP). think they are my new fav fish. btw its now an actual pair just a male and a female. i cant wait till they pair up and make babies!
