I went to a Lfs today, just to buy food, & a new heater as mine wasn't keeping the temp constant.
Anyway, was looking at the tanks & found a 60 litre & stand at a bargain price, couldn't resist, so it came home with me.
I currently have 6 small Platys in a 35 litre fully cycled tank.
Am I right in thinking I can just transfer the filter & fish to the new tank without having to cycle it?

yes you can =] your filter will support your fish in the 35 so it will in the 60l =]

Thank you, that's what I'll be doing tomorrow then :good:

get a larger filter, and just transfer to filter pads and such from that 35 liters into the new tank to seed the beneficial bacteria. If you plan on upping your stock (And I know I would if I just got a bigger tank!) then you'll need a stronger filter.

+1 i agree with what onidrase said about getting a larger filter

The filter I have is a Fluval 2, would that be ok the 60?

It was already in the 35litre, so is fully cycled.
I was hoping not to have to buy a new filter, so glad it'll be ok

will be fine then no need to do any thing but swap the filter over to the new tank

Dont forget:

temp match the new tank water before adding fish, add declor to and check the ph if your tank ph differs alot from your tap ph :good:

Thank you, will check everything as I do it.
I'm sure they'll love the extra space
