hi peeps

i want to pass something by yourselves... I friend of mine has a tank that 4 ft by 1 ft by 2ft...

in it he has far to many fish( about 27) which I have told him but he has said that the fish shop said it was ok..
what Im worried about is

he has 4 dwarf gouramis.
and a stunning male betta

now already the gouramis are about 2 inches and im worried that there gonna be to big and also I did try and point out that male bettas aren't commuinity fish but he said he was told by the shop that they fine as long as there not kept with other male bettas,

the tank have a few fancy guppys "as in long flowing tails"...

its a bit long winded but what should I do??

hes planning to add more fish(a rainbow shark)... the fish shop is a good one and it was them selves that originally told me that Bettas "arent" community fish... do u think i should comtact the shop and explain??

hes also buying fish online, which he says is cheaper.. but I only every buy fish that I can veiw.. im I being sensible or over bearing???

the tank water is green and stinks even after a water change  .... they also get constant water infection...
i dont know what to do...

Do you know exactly what fish he has in there? It sounds to me like your friend is going to end up with a lot if not all dead fish. Male bettas tend to fight with gouramis like they fight with other male bettas, the male may attack the guppies because of the "long flowing fins" and in return the male betta with probably wind up with no fins either, and as for the shark... I don't even want to think about that. But I don't know how to help you if your friend won't listen...

Buying fish online may not necessarily be a problem, I have been doing that myself lately, because not all local shops are very good, and there is nowhere local that stocks the kind of fish I'm interested in.

But the way he is buying and keeping his fish certainly does sound like a problem. In his favour, the tank is quite long, and it might be possible to establish more than one gourami territory, through clever breaking up of the sightlines- but 4 gouramis and a betta sounds a bit much, and I imagine the rainbow shark would be quite capable of turning all five of them into fish hash.

Im sorry, but I have to say this. GODZUKI!!!!!! Son of Godzilla. lol...or is it pure coincidence?

Sorry to get off topic.
