Today one of my Guppies died. An hour before it died i saw it swimming around as happy as could be. And around that time i put a new Flame Gourami in there. Do you think me putting the new gourami in the tank might of stressed my guppy out or maybe the new gourami attacked my guppy?

very much so, adding new fish screws with your biological filtration causing ammonia spikes.

however any number of reasons. I've had fish suffer heart attacks on me from fear.

what are your tank specs?

One small Gourami in such a large tank would surely not cause a large amonia spike though. There's already beneficial bacteria in the tank, and although it might take a small time for the bacteria to grow it shouldn't be that drastic with the addition of just one fish.

For example, in our 30 gallon tank we added 3 cardinal Tetras and 2 Kulhi loaches at the same time, one day later when I tested the water it was perfectly within parameters and has been ever since. We also had absolutely no spike with the addition of 3 corydoras.

What were the water stats before you added the Flame Gourami? Did you see it harassing any of the other fish? Was it a male guppy?
