Nice to see you again Alasse, I look forward to seeing your next stunning tank set up with your new 5 foot tank ;)

Bowl - Betta
Bowls are for soup not Bettas.

Welcome back.

This bowl is for a betta, perfectly acceptable!

The newest 5ft is in place now, cant fill it though until i get a background for it, or paint the back of the tank (less chance of this cause its heavy as lol)

I will check it out, just catching up on stuff

Yea my 55Gal tank is probally close to 1Ton as i have alot of rocks that weigh 10Ibs each in there plus the 55+Gal of water in it

My 6x2x2 (180gal) weighs near a ton

generally that would weight 200-250Ibs without water.        With water your talking an extra 900+Ibs

I dont work in pounds sorry

681 litres of water it holds....so 681kg of water

around 100kg of glass

Make 781kg

About 100kg of substrate and decor

makes 881kg

Still not 1 ton (1000kg), as i said close to a ton

Certainly closer to a ton than my 75gal with rocks in it for the africans

Don't forget the weight of the stand and the equipment inside the stand, it all adds up....

A ton of weight on the floor of your home, better be sure the floorboards and joists can handle this amount of weight.

I have actually heard of this happening with other keepers actually damaging the joists of their floors and anyone walking around the tank adds to the strain of the floor in that area. But luckily the tanks were ok in these instances I've heard this happening, obviously the tanks were moved later. But that made me real aware of the dangers and potential costs of this happening.

Always worth checking this, I don't mean this for Alasse but anyone who is considering larger tanks to be sure to think about where to put their tanks, especially if the tank is going upstairs of a house or even a flat, just something to consider

My stand is heavy as, its made of besser blocks and quite a few of them, no way would this be able to go inside the house, i would have to look at getting a cabinet at the least to help spread the weight over the floor

Your tank is not going in the house .............

You mean its outside or in a outbuilding like a shed or a garage?

No way we in the UK have the weather to do that :lol
Unless of course we weatherproofed the shed / garage and insulated and all that sort of thing, not a cheap way of doing things in UK thats for sure.

But worth doing if planning to convert the garage soley for purpose of having a fish room.......hmm......theres an idea.........GF would go beserk of course....but.....yeah........hmmm

I'm hopefully okay in my first floor flat cos it's got concrete floors ... I think I'd know by now if it wasn't okay!
