i used a piece of perspex as a drip tray and jus those 2 spots for lighting.

whilst this was ok and the lighting was good my plants never did so well so i decided to get a hood.

still needs painting and its kinda weird after being able to see the whole front of the tank but i like the new lighting and it does look smarter.

That's excellent, seems you've found your niche. Are you open to taking commissions?

Be carfull with the paint. It cant be good to get the fumes near the tank will you leave the hood off for a bit??? Im not sure if it will be harmfull to the fish.

I understand yacht varnish is the thing to use as it's totally water resistant.

very nice youve done and exelent:thumbs:

but this thread will soon be moved to the diy section

does anyone kno how much air should be getting in there?

its quite tight to the tank except for at one end where theres a thin gap.

ill have to keep an eye on them to make sure they dont start gasping.

have to do some drill work if they do.

thanx again people!

im sure there will be enough air getting in but like you say just watch them for a bit and get the drill out if they start gasping :D
