Ok, my next door neighbors are having this grage sale. So I went to my dad and joked, "Hey dad, if they have a nice aquarium there and it's resonably priced, can I get it?" He takes it seriously.

"NO --------! I DON'T WANT ANY ONE ELSE'S JUNK! LOOK AT ALL THE CRAP YOU HAVE IN YOUR ROOM! WHERE WOULD YOU PUT IT? I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR FISH!"

So, ya, i'm p-oed at my dad.

Sounds like dad is having a bad day. Buy him a tank to cheer him up. I would consider it very rude to refuse a gift like that. If I was having a bad day & one of my kids bought me a tank to cheer me up, I would feel much better.

How much is the tank? I never checked in with my parents when i brought home my 55g! They were mad but got over it once they realized how nice it would look in the spare room!

my mom is the same way.....she thinks buying about 20 dollars(us) once a month on filter media and declhorinator is too much....yet she spends that every 2 weeks or so just to feed some stray cats which is a good thing but i dont see how she can complain about me taking care of MY pets and she goes and spends more than i do on cats that dont even belong to her

I'd rather see one of my kids spend $10 on a fish than any of the crap available to kids on the street these days. Dad is lucky you like fish.

wow is it me or is that a little much? Filture cartrages and a bottle of declhorinator will be less than $10 dollars for me in 3 months. I mean i wouldn't have my 2 tanks if i had 2 pay 20 dollars a month.

Well, if it's an allowance then it's kinda yours and kinda not. trust me, i'm off to college in a few days and my parents still threaten to kick me out!!!

My family loves to watch my fish. My 55 gal is actually in my brother's room (the room was a spare room but he moved back in and made it his bedroom) and he bought some fish to go in there, with me going with him of course, but as soon as i ask for help with a water change or anything they run for the hills!

Me, to my aunt "I'm getting 9 or 10 bettas in the mail... I'll probably try and rehome a few of them"

My aunt "Uhg, I don't like fish. I don't like anything that doesn't have fur or feathers"

Me "If you go buy at least a 2 gallon tank and some high quality food, and promise me you'll do a water change at least once a week and take good care of it, you can have one."

Then she grabbed her kids and ran out to buy 30 dollars in fish stuff and come get her fish, showed up at my house an hour later to prove to me she had everything she'd need to keep him happy, and enthusiastically named him "Mr. Peanut".

It's funny how some people who don't like fish, love fish SO much... Don't you think?
