My male betta that I have had for a week has only just started coming out of hiding and I don't think he's very well.
He's giving me big puppy dog eyes and I think he has got fin rot.
He is in a 15 litre baby biorb and I have done a 50% water change. I have got some melafix, so I put some in as there is carbon in a standard biorb filter?
Also how much do I put in a 15l biorb?
PLease Help. I don't want to loose him.

When you medicate you do need to remove carbon. There is also a bettafix med I believe but I'd ask about that in the betta forum...

Melafix is 5ml per 36 litres I think, so in a 15 put just under 2.5ml in.

But as said, take out the carbon filter, it should be the black one if its in there.

As others hae already said, you need to remove the carbon before using the medication.
Wit Melafix, you are best using half the recommended dose as they are quite sensitive fish.
I used it when one of my boys had severe finrot and it started to improve after a couple of weeks.
Try not to worry Buttercup, I'm sure he'll be fine. ;)

Thanks for all your replies. I spoke to the shop that I got him from as I think that he had dropsy as well. They let me take him back and the lady there said that she would euthanise him for me as he really wasn't doing well and spent a couple of hours upside down but still alive.
Poor baby wasn't right from the start. Bless him he can now swim happily with the other fishes.

Thank you. I feel happier now having done what I did rather than having to sit and watch him die. I just couldn't do It.
