I'm Not Sure What Happened?

Okay, so this is going to sound really weird, but I swear it's true. I have three guppies and three platies. All of my guppies are males and I HAD two female platies and a male one. But I was staring at my fish today and noticed that my mickey mouse platy is now male! Is that even possible? I'm absolutely sure of it- I stared for like 10 minutes trying to figure out why I was seeing things.

platies can change from female to male but not male to female.

yes as peggers said, it's usually the late developers that 'appear' to make the change, even though they're just going through a maturation stage.

It hasn't changed in size at all, but I can't really tell if it has matured at all from when I got it. It's my first tank, so I'm still feeling around for what I'm doing but will this be a problem with the now 2:1 male:female ratio?

If your tank will allow, I'd get more females. Idea is 3:1 female:male, but 2:1 can also work IMO.
