Hello all... I'm new to the forum (obviously) and I'd like to introduce myself.
When I was a kid, my dad gave me his old tank (not sure how big- 10 gallon?) and bought me a bunch of random fish- 2 angelfish, 1 pictus cat, 1 betta, and 1 African dwarf frog. I know now that it was an awful mix of species, especially for such a small tank! Of course the angels developed bent fins and nipped the frog and betta to death. The catfish and angels eventually died as well.
Of course, my dad is also the one who scooped up a fish from the nature sanctuary, brought it home in a bucket, and tossed it in his tank with a bunch of tetras. I think it was a stickleback, and obviously it grew larger and started to terrorize the tetras...
I was given a 10 gallon tank a few months ago after my boyfriend upgraded to a 30 gallon. It has 2 15w incandescent bulbs and an undergravel filter with an air stone and power head. It came with tacky turquoise gravel and a hot pink "coral" ornament. I tried to make it more visually appealing with a mix of live plants and a rock cave... right now I have 5 zebra danios, 2 bronze cory cats, and a baby pleco ('Gertrude') which I'm borrowing as a glass cleaner for now.
