Hello, my name is Carri. Im from Illinois. I just recently landed a new side job with my mom's friend.....well he has 6 freshwater tanks and 1 big salt water tank. I dont know anything about salt water fish and cleaning their tanks, which is my job. I told him I didnt know anything in that area, but neither does he. I dont get any type of training at all and the people who cleaned them before.....were killing all his fish. he wants me to clean these tanks 2 times a week.....to my knowledge of fish, that is to much and will kill them quickly. also no water prep is done, its all throw water in, add stuff, and throw the fish in. thats never the way ive done any of my fish. I want to do a good job cleaning his tanks and I also have to buy all the stuff for the tanks and i have NO idea where to start...... i have to buy easy to keep fish that will get along for all the tanks as well. Im kinda nervous about this. he has little equipment and i dont even really know where to begin. Help!!?

Im sorry but if you dont know anything you should demand appropriate training. No one should do a job without training. Also google is a great help.

well its hard enough to get a job without, trying to tell the boss what he should do, this is atleast an attempt to gain a bit of knowledge.

there are a number of "pinned item, around the forum. covering thing like Cycling a tank, feeding, and filtration. some good diy ideas for the future too. do a forum search, next just sit down and read all the posts you can, it dosnt have to be connected with any questions you may have. you will be amased how much sticks in, just by reading. what you can tell your boss is if you dont get it right between you, it is gona cost him money. that usually makes them take notice.
