Well today i was remembering the days when i was young and i used to keep a little guinea pig with me everywhere i went. I mean to the mall and whatnot. Really fun. She died one day. after like a year and a half of getting her, So she was probably 2. Don't know why she died. But i wanna get another pet that i could take with me everywhere again. A lil more compact than a guinea pig. And they tend to be more shy. I've had hamsters for a little while (petsitting) and they were easy to care 4. I had mice for a year and 2 years ago had gerbils. Won't do that again! So i was givin a 10 gallon with rodent supplies in it. I have a pacman frog in it now so i wanna get one of those big tall plastic storage bins. One of my friends keeped a guinea pig in one and she lived happily. So i wanna put newspaper on the bottom ( Learned that's the best way to go with the gerbils) And leave the toys and caves in it for him. I wanna get the biggest kind of hamster! A female. Whats the biggest kind of hamster. They sell Teddy bear's here in my lps. Any advice?

It's really not best to keep a hamster in a glass tank :/ They develop respiratory problems. Perhaps you should visit a few hamster websites before you really think about getting one. And by the way - you can't carry hamsters around with you everywhere - they are not toys :/ Handling is nice a few times during the evening (the are nocturnal so don't appreciate being played with at day) - but not a good idea to "take them with you everywhere again".

no i wanna keep it in those big plastic tub things. With the top off. I also used to carry around one of the mouses i had. In a little box in my backpack. And he would always sleep until i opened it and let him out. He was so fun when my mom would go into stores and i would play on the sidewalk with him. I would only take her with me like on weekends. Too much? :-( I'll be really careful and keep her in a hard box so i won't smush her. (Won't ever to it anyway)
I feel like a little kid begging my mom if i could have one.

I'm afraid it's just a bad idea to carry a hamster around in a backpack.
It's just a disaster waiting to happen one way or another - and really not fair at all on the hamster who wants to quietly sleep during the day.
I think you should probably best stick to your pacman frog

Well i could still get her just not carry her around with me. Just settle to carrying her around the house. The pacman is like an ornement! I can't hold it or nothing. He literally sits there all day! But i love him and i knew what i was getting into when i got him. It's really easy to take care of him so i would still keep him and just have fish pacman and hamster. (Mom takes care of corona)

again - really not a good idea to carry a hamster around the house
A friend of mine's 10 year old boy handled one of my hamsters once - and even though he was used to hamsters, it jumped out of his hands and the hamster broke his back  it was the most horrid thing ever :-(
When handling a hamster, you should always be sitting down on something like a bed or a sofa - but keep in mind hamsters don't sit still for cuddles. They won't just sit on your lap so that you can stroke and cuddle them. They will always want to be on the move and try to get away from you.
I'm really sorry to say, but I honestly do not think you should have a hamster by the sounds of it :/

ye but i think what bloozoo2 is tring to say is hampsters dont like being carried around, and the fact you even thought about getting one and carring it in a back pack all day is even worse :/ it would be pretty cruel too, maybe just get a hampster cage and get him out once or twice a day instead of carring him around alllllllll day.

so you plan on putting it in a bin so that it couldn't see anything around it and you would only be able to watch it from above? sounds like the hamster would really enjoy that...i mean you could at least get it a mult-tier cage for $10, geez

i didnt see where it says about putting it in a bin ( must be blind) wwestar if you are going to get a hampster it needs a proper hampster home not a bin or a box in a back pack but a proper hampster cage they dont cost much well you could get a really exspensive 1 if you want. ;)

Who why don't you ask for more details before you get hostile.
The bin is clear and totally open on top. The big hampsters are solotary so the only companionship it needs is me. I was going to buy one of those carrying cases and keep it in my small bag. But scratch that idea! Maybe if i do dicide to get one Im 50 50 now i will try not to handle it much.

ye but wwestar a bin, you would have to tip the bin on its side to get the hampster out, i really think your hamster would rather live in a hampster cage with loads of tubes he can climb threw and loads of ladders to climb up than a dark cold bin with nothing to do. -_-

Ohhh, my hamsters live in the big plastic tubs! THey are cheaper then those crappy critter trails, and have a lot of great space for toys! The biggest type of hamster is a Syrian, well, thats the biggest domestic type. Teddy Bears are Syrians, the store just gives them that name to make you think your buying something special. But syrians MUST BE HOUESD ALONE.

And bins are great! They are large, and Critter trail cages are crappy and hamsters escape alkl the rtime! would you like to see pictures of my bins?

i dont even know what these containers are, -_- but i still think you would be better off with a hampster cage, but its your hampster you deside what you do with it, so its upto you, but i really really really hope ou get the idea of putting him in a bin out of your head -_-
