Hey guys. I've got a red spotted severum in my 75 gallon tank, as seen in my avatar. I believe I've had him for about a month now, if not longer. He's seemed pretty healthy overall, he eats ravenously, aggressively defends his territory, and digs like no other, to the bottom of the glass in certain areas. He's not remotely lethargic, his poo is normal, he's not bloated, there are no odd spots or scrapes. In fact, he's the biggest bad boy in the tank, he makes me green terror cower in fear.

The water according to my API Master Test Kit is perect, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, usually 10 or so nitrate, pH is 7.6, water temp is consistently 77 degrees. I'm unsure of the water hardness, but I know colorado's water is pretty dang hard. The tank is cycled, and I have a 90 gallon hang on back marineland filter on it. There are no live plants, just mopani and Malaysian Driftwood. I'm currently using black pH neutral aquarium sand as well.

Now, for my concerns. He's always had these twitches, I suppose, ever since I've had him. He will rapidly shake his dorsal fin, or his anal fin, sometimes his tail will twitch and clamp a little, sometimes he shakes his head as well. He's the only fish in the tank with this behavior. The Green terror clamps fins now and then, but only around the severum, which has lead me to believe it's a sign of submission rather than sickness.

Over the past month or two of owning him, I've had the tank madicated once or twice with rid ich (he came to me with ich) and I had a short salt treatment as well.

Sometimes his dorsal and anal fin also seem kinda clamped to him pretty hard, but I don't think it's too big of a deal as he still swims and behaves normally when they are. I might just not be used to seeing them clamped as he always flares at me when I come by the tank.

Today I did a good cleaning on the filter as I thought there may be an off chance that its dirtiness was causing the severum to behave this way, and even after the thorough cleaning (while still keeping a good amount of beneficial bacteria, mind you) he's still exhibiting the same shaking behavior.

I'm at a loss, now, I have no idea how to help him.

Any ideas on why he might be experiencing these shakes would be appreciated. Thanks much.

other things to note, no I don't use any air conditioners or anything which might be poisoning the water or something, I use Seachem Prime Water Conditioner no other chemicals or additives.

He just spazzed out and passed away randomly...

RIP Mr. Bojangles..

Gave it a good run, but that's the last time I go to a fish store on colfax avenue to get a fish for them to put in a bag with not enough water to let it swim upright..

this was pretty messed up from the start..
