I got the tank and stand I wanted, then had to faff about bidding on ebay for a new heater and light starter as the ones I had weren't suitable. I still have to buy a filter. Looks like I won't get the thing stocked for another month at least

I know how you feel, I am trying so hard to sort out my tanks, and every time there is something to wait for. the Keyhole Cichlids are ill and the rams they had in were tiny and the LFS guy didn't recommand them for a new tank. humph.

of course this hobby does teach you patience. I clearly haven't graduated yet!

I know what you are going through. It is better to take your time and find exactly what you need rather than just get any old thing just to get er done and have to replace it later. Good luck with your tank.

heh could be worls could have the money to stock ur tank and thenu can go crazy and over spend like i did i had to borrow £100 of my mum cos i messe up and got stupid

Just think, as they said before, all good things come to those who wait, you sound like you know what you want, unfortunately i lost some of my fish due to bad advice fro my LFS and I knew at this, now we have to wait for the cycling to complete and try to save the remining 7 fish at the same time. and also we are impatient as we would like new fish to add to the tank but we know we can't. Always best to wait in the long run

I wish we could set up slowly - get bit by bit. I admire your self control (even if it is controlled by eBay!)

We usually start that way and then all of a sudden I am paying for display tank, sump tank, pumps, heaters, substrate and fish in one go. In fact it seems to happen that way so often I am thinking about getting my LFS owner his own card attached to my bank account.
