So after my beautiful 4 foot freshwater tank cracked during a house move last year I decided to leave the wonderful world of fish keeping due to lack of funds and other factors.

Well an...ahem...accidental trip to my LFS today totally changed that and I cam home with a Fluval Roma 90. This is the first time I have owned a tank from brand new all my other tanks have been gumtree purchases.

I think I shall stock it with some new world cichlids as I really enjoyed my bolivian rams and Angel fish when I had the 4 ft tank. So I shall be spending time on this bit of the forum researching my stocking. Are Angels a good idea in a 60cmw x 45cmh tank?

I have always had tanks on the go so haven't had to do any fishless cycling for ages so I am incredibly impatient watching my empty tank waiting for it to cycle!

I have set up my tank and put a layer of 'Sera Floredepot Gravel Substrate Plant Growth Promoter' and a layer of 'Dennerle crystal quartz gravel' on top. I have never used either I have always used sand so hopefully they work out. I've stuck in my old Fluval 3 filter and heater and obviously filled it with conditioned water and a solution to start the cycling process.

Some pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Don't you so love new tank bubbles?

scary stuff, step daughter loved it though and now wants a snake eek!

Congrats on the new tank, you're gonna need patience waiting for the cycle to complete...do you have anyone close by who has a tank so you can pinch some mature filter sponge from to help kick start yours?

I would stick with the small stuff in a 90, maybe a group of Apisto's or Bolivians along with some nice small dithers would be okay? You will no doubt be aware of the limitations of a tank so small in volume and honestly putting angels in that would be cruel, I have a Roma 125 that I wouldn't put angels in to be honest.

Good luck with it and keep us posted on what is happening

Yeah I knew that I wouldn't be able to put angels in I was just posting that question in false hope lol.

I pinched some water from my LFS tanks so hopefully that helps with the cycle.

You could keep a mateing pair Of angels in that tank with not many other fish.
