Hey forum folks,
My fry have outgrown the breeder net I have kept them in. The net is hanging in a corner of my 20 gallon tank currently. I am planning on moving them to a 5.5 gallon tank until they are big enough to donate/sell. I have never reared fry before, and I am uneasy about this transition.
Currently in their net, the water is calm, and the food floats gently at the surface while they eat (Hikari First Bites). In my 5.5 gallon, there is a HOB power filter and a bubbler that disturbs the surface. If anything, I will swap the bubbler for a sponge filter. The HOB is very calm, and has adjustable flow and the intake has a sponge I can place over to prevent any fry from getting sucked in. At their current size, I don't think it's quite an issue though. It's a Azoo Mignon 150. I love that filter by the way.
This may sound rather stupid, but here it goes. Will my fry have difficulties eating with the bubbles disturbing the surface? Given so much more space to swim around, will they be able to find food during feeding time?
I know everyone here loves pictures, so here they are in my net. As you can see, they are outgrowing it.
Orange fella was a stowaway from a live plant. Here's my thread about it if you're interested. I have yet to ID him.
Here's their intended new home. Guppies will be moved to a different tank, of course.
This tank has fake and live plants in it. Can anyone ID the live plants? They are the plants on the sides.
