hey my other half bought me a fish tank the other week and we now have a black moor duncan and a fantail pj (who seems to constantly be poohing) i've no idea how big the tank is i was away when he got it which is a worry but i relaized the other day how little i know as last time i had fish i was 5 and would pick them up and kiss them goodbye before i went to school (which i now know was wrong) anyway i've noticed the thing to do is say hi so hi

howdee & welcome :)

If the tank is newly set up it will probably still be developing the beneficial filter bacteria. This can take about a month to do. During this time you should only feed the fish once every few days, and change part of the water every couple of days.
If you have a power filter only wash the filter materials out in a bucket of tank water. Then tip the dirty water onto the garden. If you wash the filter materials out under tap water the good bacteria can be killed off and it will mess up the filtration and cause water quality problems.
