:hyper: My Kribs have finally done it!
This morning I was presented with about 50 or so babies, and two very very proud parents.

Are there any precautions I should be taking for the well being of the baby’s or should I just let them get on with it?
There is nothing in the 180 l very well planted tank that will eat them apart from a few Neon’s.
The filter intakes are my only concern I have two, one Aquaball and on eheim 2219.
Although the water is crystal clear and all the parameters are spot on is there any need for me to do any water changes?

I’m so excited I just don’t want to loose any of them.

Thanks :good:

The mother and father will take the fry around the tank soon. it will be likly that some will die. Make sure you feed them well as kribs last resort is a snack on there babys lol. Anywho just enjoy it

 Would it be safe to do a water change with the new fry being so young?
Also do I need to feed the fry or will they be able to survive for a while on what is in the tank at the moment, things like algae and whatever is on the substrate?

Thanks

I had a pair spawn for me a while back, I fed crushed flakes & bbs. You could put a sponge over the intake of the filter, this will keep them from being sucked in. Water changes are fine, too much turbulance can damage & kill young fry. I trickle replacement water into fry tanks using a 1 gallon jug with the top cut off. Punch or drill a 1/8" hole in the jug, put a board across the tank & full the jug. As it empties, add more water. As the fry get older, punch a few more holes in the jug.
