So I have my new betta (just bought 2 days ago) in a 6 gallon filtered and heated tank with a couple of plants and gravel, so I think his environment is all right. However, he keeps swimming along the sides of the tank (not up and down, more like horizontally) on every side. Is he just patrolling his territory, or is something wrong? Sorry if I annoyed you with this question. I'm completely unsure.

it can take 5 days for bettas to settle in, all depends on how long you acclimatized for and how stressful his journey was, the chances are hes just sulking. he should perk up

He's just establishing his territory.

I've had a couple of Bettas do this for days before they have finally settled in.

Don't be surprised if you see him flare at his reflection a lot during the next few days.

He will keep doing better and better in his new home...he's just checking things out and ptrolling like you said...a nice big house like that and he will be an awesome, confident fish in no time!!
