I'll admit. I shouldn't have. not till the new 30 gallon is set up and set in stone....

but I couldn't help myself. I had the exact store credit, and if worst comes to worst, and I don't get it, the brochis can take back to the 10 and I can get one more of these guys....

so at least there IS a back up plan...

But DANG this dude is sweet. I mean, check him out.

and check it out, he's taken a territory that no one else will touch. The top of the bog wood instead of the bottom

he's really cool and really personable already. filtration provided, and thanks to his willingness, no squables over territory, it's going good.

and do I smell... a new banner?

edit: and it's not like I didn't do my research prior and make the back up plans first. I still technically should have waited and got the group when I got the 30, but these things are just so dang uncommon now days...

and he's soooo cooooooool.

oh u meant flagtail porthole, gotcha.love him.cant wait till ya get more

tut tut tut :p

I would of done the same most likely...I almost bought a eel that gets 2 feet long from my LFS he was like a snake charmer type thing with half it's body poking out of the gravel and snapping at everything that came near it....Lol oddballs are so hard to not buy :p

well it's not like he won't be well suited even in the worst case scenario that I don't get the 10 gallon :/

and man... he's constant;y suprising me. I just took this pic 5 mins, and he' in the same position even AFTER I cleared the water spots you can see in the pic (I ran out of batteries though).....

But... who Knew penny wort could support any kind of fish, let alone a 4 inch cat fish?! :hyper:

Nice fish, but he needs some friends. Thats a very nice find. I have been looking for those for a long time. The ones I have are the Dianema longibarbis (basically same fish without the stripes on the tail).

I will post some pictures of mine too.

:kewlpics:

hehe. there are two more. hopefully they won't get sold before january 4th :hyper:

I have 4 of these guys and I love them to death. I would definitely get him some friends ASAP, as they are really sociable with each other. Mine are always sticking together in my 37gl.

yep, I've gotten two, and they're usually hanging out no. even in the plants like the eel.

I'll show you a pic of that later when I've got time. and I mean they're hanging out exactly like the eels. In wisteria.

unfortunatly the elephant nose died  It wasn't eating apparently...... so there could be space for these guys permanatly, but I still plan to get the 30g set up and let them in it with the brochis, If I don't trade the brochis in.

Awww that catfish is adorable! I am glad u got a friend for it! They seem like nice fish! :)

Sorry about the elephant nose. Hopefully the new one will do better than this one.

the main key is, "IF" I get a new one. I may not at all....

kinda disheartened. I'd have to think long and hard on that one. and right now, is 40% -60% on my side a yes to no ration, yes losing....

Well that's too bad. They are nice fish. But maybe it is a good thing that you may not get a new one, since they are so sensitive and all. You wouldnt want another to loose its life. But then maybe you should give them another try. It is ur choice. :)

sensitive is fine. my water is perfect as is for it as of now as far as I'm concerned. It's the feeding that worries me more. and it would be a better Idea to get a baby one, as it would adapt to the tank and food better, and it'd be comming from a good lfs instead of a petco....

Yeah. Unfortunatly most of the lfs's around here are lousy. I have always liked elephant nose fish ever since I was little and was looking at the fish in petco. Me and my mom really liked them. Do u know the minimum size tank for them? :)

I personally would advertise a 55 with wider than a foot, but if you're getting a foot wide tank, I'd say go with three feet long minimum

so you COULD get a 30 gallon. the main concern is water qualtiy and feeding.

36" x 12" x 15"

(perfered switch the 12 and 15)
