help,
My common plec seems to have lost all its sense of direction and either just lies on the bottom of the tank or swims like a lunatic round the tank bashing into everthing.
The stats are o.k. and all my other fish seem fine, no gasping or other symptoms.
I have done a 20 lts water change just to be safe and will continue to do so all the time he lives on a daily basis.
I have no idea how old he is as i inherited him with the tank. he is about 14" long and has been fine for the last year i've owned him. Could he just be on his way out or has any body experienced this before.
Im worried he will hurt himself or the other fish in the tank.
I have left the lights off to stop stress but every now and then he still goes into one and the crashes into something and that is where he says wheather he is upside down or upright.
Any ideas?

Thats a big plec. What exactly are all your water stats ? How big is the tank ? How long have you had him ?

What other fish are in the tank and have you done anything in the last few weeks that might explain it ? Do you feed him wafers or anything like that ?

Does he look OK, no swelling or light patches on his skin etc ?

sorry to say, he died last night!
will just have to keep a close eye on the other fish. they all look fine so far.

thanks for the replie Spooky76. :good:

R.I.P.
Darting around a tank can be poor water quality, parasites, toxins to stray voltage.

thanks wilder,
i will keep testing the water for the sake of the other fish!
so far so good and all the fish seem fine if not a little calmer without a huge beast swimming round the tank.
