I had a pair of German Blue Rams. They were however both males and were very territorial. One chased the other round and around the tank constantly. I was literally days away from deciding whether or not to take them back to the shop when one of them died. I however dont know whether it was the bully or not.

A few weeks down the line and i have decided to go and get another, as the one i had was looking lonely. For the passt few days he has not been very active. I went for a female this time after reccomendation from the fish shop.

She is great .. beautiful colours and eating well :shifty:

The male however is very lethargic, not eating and lying on the floor. I tried adding some aquarium salt however nothing has got better .. just worse.

Does anyone know what is wrong .. and is there anytihng i can do as these fish are beautiful and i dont want to lose nother one. Also they are very pricey.

Thanks in Advance
TOM :good:

Have you checked your water stats? Is your tank mature? - rams need a mature tank and are very sensitive to water changes.

Maybe they had something wrong with them when you bought them - did the one that died show any signs of anything at all?

Ive had the tank for over half a year now .. fully matured .. cycled properly etc ...
Water stats all fine .. checked regularly ...
There was nothing wrong with them as far as i could tell .. however ive had a couple of gouramis die in the same way .. it reminds me of when a goldfishes swim bladder goes .. it was like they couldnt control where they swam ? Is this possible in a trop ?

thanks

TOM

Temperature at a Constant 27 degrees ..
I feed flake food and Nutrafin Max Micro Granules .. Catfish pellets for the Cories and BN and 2 or 3 times a week they get frozen or liveblood worm ..

Whats your PH? A PH of 5.5 - 7.0 is ideal. Soft water is best for them but they can adapt well to moderately hard water, mine is 7.6 and they are fine.

Diet is a bit limited - on different days mine get flake food and frozen mosquito larvae, daphnia and shrimp brine, tiny bits of dethawed frozen prawn (cooked or uncooked) algae wafers and hard boiled egg.
