the only thing i could think of that could kill so many fish in such a short space of time is internal parasites or bad water quality but my water quality is ok and most the fish didnt have any symptoms at all

Parasites external one can cause bacterial infections as well as internal parasites.

Internal parasite signs are
Long stringy white poo, or clear poo.
Red inflamed anus or enlarged.
Fish being skinny or bloated.
Worms prutruding from the anus.

If whitespot has been left untreated it can kill fast and cause other problems.
