If I Were To Set Up A Cichlid Tank...

Would a 55 gallon be suitable for this 'community' - would the size of the fish/tank be suitable and would the fish live peacefully together?

Umm not big enough for the sev with those Im afraid Mel, would be ok without the sev though I think, I assume you are talking firemouth cichlid.

Hi Mel, The convict, Rainbow and firemouth should be ok, possibly the Jewel but as these are African Cichlids i wouldn't recommend mixing them
and although Severums are amazing you would really need something along the 75G mark to have a Severum and various other cichlids.

Its a long way in the future, just finding a few things out really
We are hoping to move next year, so perhaps I could factor in a larger tank and get what I really want to get

maybe a sev would be okay with another fairly peaceful cichlid like a t-bar in a 55 but not more than that but instead of a sev blue acaras thread fins or any earth-eaters would be fine

hey mel theres so many options avalible to you
a cichlid as a centre peice then tetra's etc depending on species,,,,,or a solo tank, there worth it

think i might go for a solo tank one day with maybe a flowerhorn or something like that maybe a red devil
