So far I've lost 2 bettas in 2 days! All seem perfectly fine and then the next day they croak??? I still have one holding on right now, I found him at the bottom of my 10 gallon tank not moving at all, right now he is in his betta bowl, losing color and motionless....the only reason I know he is alive is bc his beard is thumping like a heart beat...what is going on? Is there a virus going around that I don't know about? All my water stats are normal, no algae or parasites, no fungus so I'm just left in the dark here....I don't know what else to do other than wait for him to die, I'm really heart broken here...someone please tell me what is going on here! Am I a victim of a string of bad bettas or something????

If all your parameters are fine, they were climated properly, have no obvious disease and were active & healthy before you bought them, then this could be a tricky one. I'd definitely do some water changes here, hopefully someone who knows more than me will be along soon to help further.

yea, he is still hanging on, just floating at the top, still has his beard beating...I feel soooo helpless.....IDK what else to do for him, I'm simply heartbroken.....

There was acc a thread i started on here and we all came to an agreement (simler story to yours) that its the weather at the mOment because all of ours had nothing wrong with them and they just got up and croaked so we think its the weather you know different pressures to what they are bilt for and how old where they?

one betta I had for 5 months, one I had for 4 months and this one that is hanging on I got yesterday to replace the one I lost...

Ok there is something going com here any signs com illness not eating etc anything else not quite them?

U got any room for air flow so they can breath?

he just couldn't hold on any longer, I guess I'm going to take him back and either get another or just get my money back...I'm really upset, I love all of my fish, and my guppies, platies and mollies are doing just fine! IDK what to do...

well if you do want to buy another betta put him/her in quarenteen just in case for a week or two just until you find out what it was killing them it does in my opinion sound like an internal bactirial infection it wouldnt of been a virus as a virus shows more symptoms then what yours had the only prob with bactirial infections is that most meds kill the bactira in ur filter the interpet anti-bac med say's it dosnt hurt filters but i dont know ive never had a prob with it but anyway

quarenteen and water changes will be good :)

sorry for ur losses :(

yea, he was just floating around only moving one fin to swim around, it was like he was frozen...i tried to feed him a little but he couldn't move to get it, he was interested bc he moved his head around when he spotted it, I just feel so bad...I tried all I could to keep him alive, I even lifted him up to breathe...sigh...I'm sad :rip:

please dont feel bad he wouldnt wont u to he knows how hard u worked for him and he will be for ever greatfull insted of feeling sad celbrate his life
:)

can i say when i lost my betta i felt bad for a few days but i then saw this most amazing vt male red with silver spotts on his belly i felt whole again i felt as if he didnt mind that i got another to give an amazing life to :)and know i am currently breeding my new betta now hes happy healthy and his colour has increased sinse i got him

your betta wouldnt want you to be sad :)

Are your aquariums anywhere near a draft. Bettas can get really sick if they are gulpping cold air...

No, it is actually in the corner of the house, no windows, just walls around it.

Could they have had ich? Sometimes the parasite settles in the gills, it hinders their breathing!

Sorry about you losing not just one but three in such a short time!

it's all good, actually I treated the community tank not long ago for ich, so that might explain why the one betta died but not the other two...it's ok though, my hubby bought me two beautiful females and one gorgeous double veil tail male, they are all settling in very nicely, not fighting at all, at first I thought the male would pick on the females but they just do their own thing. I'm soooo excited, I'll post a new thread with pictures! Thank you all for your support and if you hear of anything that sounds like what happened to my bettas please let me know. :fish:

To be honest if it was ich it would of taken longer due to them breathing air so it isnt ich it wldnt of killed them straight away

Also be careful with putting ur male n females as he gets older they may turn or he may turn
