there are plenty of stickies that explain all the basics, after that just ask on the forum.

I'd start right with the articles at the top of this forum. Look in the Beginner's Resource Center at the Cycling Resource Center articles. Read the fishless cycling article by rdd1952.

Don't forget to read all the beginner question threads here that you can and join in the discussion in a way that doesn't confuse the original poster/questioner if possible. Its hard to include everything in permanent articles and you can learn a lot from the ongoing discussions.

I'm not saying it's perfect but i made a lens on squidoo about setting up a tropical fish tank, and i suppose it's worth having a look if you need some help. Don't worry - i didn't make anything up - it's all proper. Just click on the link in my signiture
