Identify Severum Please

Ah excellent :) Does one of them have a bit of whitespot?

So far as breeding goes, I would put them in the 450 liter tank keep up maintenance and good water and you will probably get them breeding in a month or so - maybe sooner it is a bit unpredictable.

Also once they have bred I would move Dad into the 260 liter if possible as things could get a bit heated afterwards.

We noticed the little white dots but they just seem to be a discolouration.

I would keep a close check on those white spots, dont look like ich but could be some other parasite burried in the skin, or just could be missing scales hard to tell.

With my Rotkeils, they didnt breed with other severums in the tank. Frequent water changes also helps.

No problem i,ll keep an eye on them. Its not a missing scale. Thanx for the advise everyone.

What sort of parasite am i looking out for. what sorta symtoms.

Watch out for any worm like things sticking out of the spot and the fish flicking or rubbing against rocks etc, but the spot would go red for body flukes. They could just be old scars, looking on the video they dont look like flukes to me, but it wouldnt harm to keep a good check for a week or two :good:

Hi everyone. Looking a bit more advise. We,re considering getting a second hand tank for the severums so they can be on their own. What would be the minimum size i could put them in. ????

Found this pic on internet. The spots on its sides are the same as the spots on ours

Ah right okay! I think it was the film footage as mine sometimes gets those kind of blue/dull scales depending on the colouration like after the lights come on I often get that. But it does not seem to be an issue for my fishes health.

To me in the video the specks looked more rounded rather than on the fish like scales.

Wills :)

Ditto Wills, the video made them look lumpy sort of spots, nothing to worry about then, ignor me
Around 75g is good for a pair of sevs.

Just had another look at the video. Think we might be talking about different marks. Are yous talking about the 2 spots on the smaller sev at 50 on the video. They are raised but the same colour as the rest of the body. w ill try and get a close up
