Identfy Fish Video

Hey, I've recently started getting into this, a friend bought me a tank in a disgusting state off of ebay, ( it was filthy, couldnt even see through to the back of the tank ) It came with the 2 gouramis and a 8" plec, I've given the plec to a friend with a much larger tank.

I've spent time and effort cleaning this up, Daily water changes, new Filter (Trying to keep bacteria is why there is 2 in the tank) New 70/30 Gravel/Sand Substrate

The reason i'm posting is to find out what type of fish i have, Mainly the Gouramis and Supposed Parrot fish.

I've added the Black Ghost Knife Fish, Albino Loach, 3xFlame Tetras, Albino Shark and Siamese Fighting fish myself. No problems they all get along, though it's a little difficult to feed the BGKF as he doesnt eat the flakes, and the other buggers nick the bloodworm before he gets a chance.

The orange one looks like a parrot fish to me.....dont know which type though. Some clever people will be along soon enough!!

I can see Buenos Aires Tetras, the Knifefish, Opaline Gouramis, A blood Parrot, an Albino Corydoras and an albino Shark.

There's some issues which will need addressing regarding compatibilty, group numbers and the potential sizes of some of your stock.

you need to give your fish some cover. some wood, rocks, plants, real or fake, get something in there, will make them more comfortable. buenos aires tetra should be a group of 5 at least, same with the albino cory (what youre calling albino loach?). i suspect the shark and parrot will get too big for your tank, possibly also the knifefish. if the knife fish has something to hide behind, and finds his own little spot, you can drop food right into his little spot, and he'll eat.

Parrot Fish
Neon Blue Dwarf Gourami
Possibly a Congo Tetra
Black Ghost Knife
Albino Rainbow Shark
Betta or Siamese Fighting Fish
Maybe an albino Corydoras
The fish that appears at 15 seconds on clip I think is some kind of Tetra.

Advice: Get some plants in your aquarium. Also the ghost knife needs something to hide in, as it like to feel safe and secure. Some river rock is as good as anything, but probably best to buy it so that toxins don't leak out. A really neat thing is a a long narrow vase (like a tube). We can still see the ghost knife but he thinks he is well hidden as he is blind (but still very sensitive to light). Also be very careful how close to sunlight your tank is, otherwise you will end up with heaps of algae. :good:

as said they need more places to hide

it is not recommended to keep gourami and bettas/fighters together as it very often turns nasty when it comes to territories

could you post the dimensions of the tank or how many litres it holds, this will help determin which stock are suitable :good:

(i'm thinking not the albino shark, the blood parrot, the knife and gourami :sad:

First welcome to the forum.

You do have some issues here. Your tank looks a little thrown together and a little unnatural.

You do know that if you want to keep all these fish that you will need I would say an 80 gallon tank minimum? The blood parrot and the knife fish get way too big.

Please begin researching any fish you add. As a fish keeper you need to look at aggression, adult size, habitat and water chemistry. You just can't buy what you like and throw it in the tank without consequence of the negative type. PS never believe the fish store, do all your own research.

As a suggestion, return the knife fish and parrot. Increase your tetra's to a mimimum of six (minimum of six for schooling fish). Get lots more cover for fish, places for them to hide. Decide whether you want gourami or the betta. These two will not get along in the long run.

Ask more questions. We are happy to help and I hate to be the downer here but you do have some stocking problems.

Cheers Guys n Girls, I've taken on board your comments, Many thanks for the Indentifications, I do like the sound of a Blood Parrot haha. I do plan on getttig a tank around twice the size, and keeping this one as a reserve for any issues that arise, as i said I'm new to this.
I have been out today and bought a Large Reef Arch it has fake plants on top, Ill post another video soon enough. I am looking at different sorts of real plants also, the Moss balls are appealing to me, but the Jap grass is also quite funky.

i think yor tank is a fishbox 60 (64l)

blood parrot needs 200l size 25cm
BGKF needs 400l size 50cm
abino rainbow shark needs 200l size 15cm
Gourami 100l size 11cm
Buenos Aires tetra need to be in groups of at least 5 with at least 3ft tank with plenty of open swimming space
Corydoras should be keeped in groups of 5 or more
also like stated you would need lots more covere and hiding places

It is a learning curve,

we all wanted all theese fish in a small tank at one point!
