hi would love some opinions on my tank,

i have 70 liter which includes

1 grown apple snail
1 baby apple snail
1 bumble bee goby
5 kuhli loaches
3 teenage mollies
1 pleco
1 borneo pleco

and just recently added 4 male guppies to fill the middle of my tank but i dont quite like them as their not as colorful as i wanted so might return them. Ive got the tank planted with fake plants n a live plant on a piece of driftwood n two caves n some java moss. Was thinking of adding another bumble bee goby for the one i have as a friend and wanted some other fish to fill the middle of my tank out. maybe some that would like the caves ive made as none of my fish use them (had a convict before all this so the caves were for him).

anyone have any ideas?

thanks X

hi and welcome
i have 2 x bumblee bee goby (leporinus)

Leporinus are not bumble bee gobies they are a species of headstander. Bumblebee gobies are gobies and stay quite small where as the Leporinus will make about 8 inches to a foot

To K&B welcome to the forum!

First thing to mention from your stock list is when planning a tank dont go by age or current size of the fish to plan the numbers around use their adult sizes to determine how to stock your tank.

Right now though your tank looks okay apart from a few fish though. The pleco, plecos will grow to about 12-18 inches in under a year usually so I would try to rehome them pretty quickly, maybe do it at the same time as you trade in the guppies. Also the Borneo Pleco aka the Hill Stream Loach is quite specialist in care needs, for long term success they need fast flowing water which are usually created via strong powerheads though most other fish in your tank wont be able to cope with the requirements so again an other to potentially rehome.

For your 70 liter tank using the fish that you have at present I would do a stock list like this

3 Mollies
5 Bumblebee Gobies - the do best in groups.
5 Kuhli Loaches
2 Apple Snails

Then on top of those you could easily add some more fish but make sure you research their max sizes and requirements before you buy them :)

A quick note on the Bumblebee Gobies as well thats worth mentioning. There are a lot of species that look very similar and most of these are actually brackish fish rather than freshwater which means they need a little bit of salt in their tanks. Just wondering if its possible for you to get the latin name from the fish shop you bought them from so we can work out just what their needs are. An other thing worth saying is, they are quite famously hard to feed as they often only take live food and as a result die quite young after a few weeks or months so again something to watch out for. Also like I say they do best in groups so 5 would be nice and still leave you with room for other species.
