Hey everyone,

Would like some help on adding some more glup glups (fish) to my aquarium.

I have a 300 litre tank
Ammonia - 0
PH - 7.2
Nitrates - 20 ppm
Nitrites - 0
27 Degrees

Currently have;
1 small pleco
3 bristlenose catfish
1 albino shark (3 died for unknown reasons - i think a red tail took them out)
5 silver sharks
6 mixed red tailed and rainbows
4 neon and flame gouramis
2 silver dollars

I was thinking of adding a ghost knifefish but not sure if they will co-habitate.

What other fishies would get along well here?

Hmm, Black Ghost Knifefish are beautiful fish.

However, they grow big, about 2 foot. So on that basis, the MINIMUM tank should be 6 feet by 2 feet by 2 feet, even that may be too small.

You have to remember they are not flexible ish, so turning around in a bare minimum 2 feet wide tank may mean a struggle for it.

These are sensitive to water parameters and also pretty much any fish under 4 or 5 cm could be food for the BGK.

Before adding some fish just wanted to make a few comments on your current stocking.

Do you know what small pleco you have? If you post a pic of it someone should be able to ID it for you :)

The silver sharks (aka bala sharks) are going to need a bigger tank at some point due to their size and activity levels.
These can get up to a little over a foot and should be kept in a minimum 8x2ft tank. You can read about them more HERE.

The silver dollars would also be best in groups of 6 or more.
Not trying to attack you or anything I hope you know, just wanted to make sure you know these things for the future. :)

I agree on not adding a BGK. By the way, is your water soft or hard?

I was going to add some more silver dollars on my next trip to the LPS but was thinking of adding some other types as well. I saw the ghost fish and he looked magical but expensive.

I will be in the process of setting up a 460 litre tank within the next 6 months which will support the balas as well as another tank setup for a snake.

I will try and get a photo of the pleco (he is really small at the moment, just a baby but will grow to a bigger size)

Water is hard

And no offence taken, im still new to all of this (only started this 4/5 months ago as my very first so still learning alot)

appreciate all your advice
