I have a 30 gallon and a 20 gallon, each completely stocked with fish. I plan on moving one tank each trip as it's only a 3 mile move, but I'm not sure how to go about transporting the fish without them dying? I was thinking putting them in a little glass bowl and carrying them, but I have quite a few fish..

The first move will contain

X6 High fin skirt tetras, all about 1.5" big
x2 zebra danios about 2.5"
x1 blue gourami, about 2"

Second move will contain
x4 silver mollies about 3"
x2 black mollies 3"
x3 swordtails 3"
x1 pleco 5"
x1 dojo loach 5"
x5 red minor tetras 1"
x4 platties 2"

(I know the above is about overstocked, I know..)

The latter list provides the biggest trouble... how should I go about this? :(

Hi the best way to move the fish safely is to put them in the bags they come in from LFS you could go and ask for some or buy them.

when i moved i put my fish into a cool box, which kept them warm, i moved about 30 min away with no problem :good: just be sure to keep your filter media wet and you should be able to put the fish straight back in

Watch the plec in bags, get at least a 3 mil for transport. Plecs are famous for puncturing bags, they sell 6 mil sleeves for shipping fish such as that.

For such a short transport nothing special needs to be done, net, bag, box & drive.

Why not do things the easy way? You probably have a 5 gallons or so bucket for water changes. That bucket can be an ideal transport container. Simply fill it about 2/3 full and place the fish from a tank into it. When you get to the new place, dump the bucket into your tank and finish topping up with dechlorinated tap water.
