I'm planning on setting up a tank as a tropical freshwater set up and starting from scratch.

Tank is

24" by 14" by 18" and will consist of a sandy substrate which i have already bought and i will be using Aqua Basis as a plant feeder. Just would like to know what plants i should add to complete my underwater paradise -_- It would have to be something that would grow well and pretty firm roots.

Ph of tank will be 7.0
and its very hard water too.

HTH

You have hard water in wales? I always thought it was soft there.

I have one of my aquarium set up with Aquabasis and sand on top. I have planted it with E. Tennelus (pygmy chain sword), Crypts, Ambulia, Hygrophila.

Most plants should be able to grow as long as you have other parameters right like light, co2 etc

I just put in some hygrophilia polysperma and within 4 days its already shooting out roots into the sand everywhere.

Yea, that stuff does well in my tank w/ play sand too. Only 1.8 wpg too. :)

Does anyone have a link for info on aquabasis?

I guess you put this down first and then sand on top?? how deep do you think i should have the sand?

Thx for replying!!!

Heres a picture of the tank i'm planning to change.......

nope it won't let me upload. Ah well u can't see then. I've cropped it twice and still wont load.

I have about an inch of sand over a substrate heater, on top is an inch of aquabasis and about the same of sand again on top of that but deeper at the back.
