Idea For Future Tank?

so i hope to buy a new tank sometime in the next year or so, so lots of time to think it through and plan it out properly.

i was thinking a fluval profile 1000 or fluval osaka 320 or something a similar size-250l+. With a sand substrate with some larger pebbles in one area, cant decide if it should be black or beigey colour? and large pieces of wood (could someone explain what the difference is between bogwood and driftwood?) and some rocky caves and lots of live plants.

Stocking ideas so far;
2 gold angelfish
2 pearl gouramis
2 german blue rams
8 harlequin rasboras
5 black neon tetras
8 cardinal tetras
3 adolfoi corydoras
3 gold laser corydoras
and maybe 1 festivum cichlid if theres enough room? are the numbers of each fish ok? would this stocking be ok if i had the right amount of filtration? what kind of external filters would you reccomend?

sounds like a good idea to me, i like the osaka`s i think they look beautiful if you got the 320 there would be more than enough room for those fish

my mum is not so keen on the osaka as she thinks it will dwarf the rest of the room its going in. But since i would like a much larger awuarium its very hard to find a good tank for the sizes she would like, which are; under 4 foot, probably around 3, and not too high.
so i think we will be going with the profile
