Hi Youngfisher... That pic is too blurry to get any kind of id. The chances are that it is a cichlid, I would say 75%. What kind of camera did you use to take the pic? I just looked at the EXIF and see that you used your phone, an Erricsson 880i. They are not bad little cameras on those phones, I used to have one. Please take more shots and post the best and I am sure someone here will be able to help with an id.

Next time you take photos, take them when its dark outside, that will help reduce reflection. If you have a sports mode on the phone use that, it will help reduce blurring. Use the flash. stand a little further back cos I don't think the cam can focus from that near the tank. Make sure the lens on the camera is clean and clean the outside f the tank at least and the inside if you can. Sorry for all those things I have suggested but if you do all those you will see much better results.

Good Luck, Cheers Nigel <:{{{><

Cheers for that nigel!

They have gone back in the tank - We found the baddie fish and took it back to the shop, and yes they are all malawi cichlids btw.

Oh and i did take this when the cichlid was in a bag in the tank so that didnt help

with the way the lines go on the head it looks like a young blue/black convict cichlid mate ive got quite a few of these as you know they dont get there colour till later on thats what id say it was mate but i dont know about the orange tail maybe a hybrid
