My friend sent me a pic of this baby fish she found behind her filter and its got us both stumped as to what it is.
Its only a few mm long. She totally stripped the tank when she lost her goldfish and changed to tropicals. The fish have only been in the tank a couple of weeks at most.
She has, neons, danios, platy, and cory cats.
I can rule out the danio, neon and cats but it just doesnt have the shape of a platy.Maybe it was a hitchhiker in the bag, we just dont know.
Can anyone help??

i really dont know :/ i'v never seen one like that before -_- Has she seperated it from out the main tank though??

i would of thought it was a platy because i had one just like that but yellow and black, its the shape of a goby lol

im not quite sure  but i would say it was a platy

it looks like a babay goldfish was left in the tank, but the next closes thing would be a danio.
:D

I would say it is a goldfish, a common one at that too;
however only time will tell for sure

If She had Platy's then thats what I would say it is, a baby platy at that size wouldnt have the body shape of an adult. If it was a baby goldfish it wouldnt or shouldnt be orange at that size it should still be brown.

Thanks everyone for the replies.
I doubt its goldfish either as they are brown when tiny but it just seems an odd shape for a platy.
Dont suppose anyone has a good clear pic of a tiny platy have they?
Its still in the main tank as she has nowhere else for it to go.

Where abouts is the mouth situated. upward.. mid....downward.

P.S. another pic would be ideal, in a clear glass receptical ie:jam-jar.

yea if the mouth is at the bottom it could be a goldfish.. top = platy... but it's hard to say.. looks like a feeder fish to me.

I can't say anything  But I would like to know what it is when you figure it out?

Yes, a feeder is a goldfish.
It just doesnt look like a platy and she bleached the tank and got new gravel and filter sponge when the goldies all died.
Ive asked her to catch it and get a couple more pics so she is going to try that today.
